Salvatore Calvaruso, a 19-year-old originally from the Zen neighborhood of Palermo, was arrested during the night on charges of being one of those responsible for the shooting that caused the death of three young people in Monreale. Furthermore, the young man allegedly tried to get rid of his cell phone, believed to contain information that could compromise his position if acquired by the authorities.

In addition, Calvaruso was also stopped because, according to the prosecutor, there is a risk that may attempt to escape. For this reason, the arrest warrant was issued urgently.

The crime contested to Salvatore Calvaruso is that of massacre, since, as reported in the arrest warrant, he allegedly fired numerous shots at chest height, also hitting some flowers placed on a low wall and breaking the windshield of a parked car. According to witnesses, between 50 and 100 people were present at the time of the shooting, seriously endangering public safety. The Prosecutor's Office stressed that, although there were five victims, three of whom died, only chance avoided a an even more tragic outcome.

After the tragic event, the healthier skin issued a spontaneous declaration, admitting to having fired the fatal shots. Despite Calvaruso's silence in front of the prosecutor, the evidence against him is solid. The CCTV footage and the testimonies collected are key elements. Furthermore, they would have been found the glasses which the young man had said he had lost that night.

More four people are currently sought by the Carabinieri, identified thanks to the recordings from the video surveillance cameras and the testimonies collected at the barracks.
