A 12-year-old boy suffered serious injuries while trying to climb over the iron fence of a park along the road between Cavallino and Lizzanello, in the province of Lecce. The boy was injured at the Casina Vernazza facility, where the park is located, when a sharp rod from the metal fence got stuck in his arm. To free the boy, firefighters had to remove part of the fence. 118 medical personnel immediately began treating him. The boy was then transported to the hospital for a difficult surgical procedure to remove the part of the iron rod remaining in his limb.
