Sister Fights for Rehabilitation in Scampia

Maria seeks rehabilitation center for her sister who was involved in a tragic accident

A drama that marks a life

July 22 is a date that has deeply affected the lives of many people in Scampia. A balcony of the sky sail collapsed, taking away three lives and leaving indelible wounds. Among the victims is Martina Russo, who lost her husband, Roberto Abbruzzo, and now lives in a hospital bed, paralyzed and without memory.

Nine months of hospitalization and surgery saved his life, but the price he paid was very high: he no longer remembers anything, not even his daughter.

The search for a rehabilitation center

Maria, Martina’s sister, does not give up. Her determination is palpable as she searches for a specialized rehabilitation center to help her sister recover her memory and mobility. “When I say that I am looking for a center for my sister, it is because I want her to remember her daughter again, and seeing this really hurts me,” says Maria, whose sisterly love is a light in such a dark moment.

An appeal that must not fall on deaf ears

The situation is critical: places in rehabilitation centers are limited and bureaucracy often hinders access to necessary services. Maria launches a heartfelt appeal: "I will never give up, my sister is 25 years old, she needs good rehabilitation because the State owes it to her". Her voice is a cry of hope and justice, an invitation not to forget the victims of this tragedy and to guarantee them the support they need.
