Rome, April 24 (Adnkronos) – "The Resistance was not only carried out by partisans, but also by civilians, women, Jews, Carabinieri, soldiers who fought alongside the Allies, military internees in Germany who preferred to stay in the concentration camps rather than go to Salò. And it is truly shameful that today, or rather not today, but always during the demonstrations of April 25, the Jewish brigade becomes the target of attacks by those who have understood nothing of history, perhaps because they have never studied it.

President Mattarella himself recalled that the qualification of resistance fighters should be extended not only to partisans, but also to the soldiers who refused to enlist in the black brigades and to all the women and men who for the most diverse reasons risked their lives to hide a Jew, to help an allied soldier or to support those who fought in the mountains or in the cities. For these reasons it would be more appropriate and truthful to speak of 'resistances' during the celebration of April 25, precisely to restore due visibility and dignity to a vast world, ideologically distant from the social-communist one, which however sided against fascism in defense of all freedoms. Only in this way will we be able to speak of April 25 as the heritage of the entire country, as hoped for by President Mattarella". This was stated by the leader of the Lega, Massimiliano Romeo, speaking in the Senate at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation.
