Adnkronos Rome, 24 April (Adnkronos) – "The sincerity and depth that must unite us in remembering this date is such that it can be a moment of unity and not a moment of division. When I spoke for the first time in my capacity as President of the Senate, I said that my greatest ambition is to move even further forward, as President Berlusconi attempted to do in his famous speech in Onna, as President Violante attempted to do, in the direction of common recognition of the values that arise from the defeat of fascism and the liberation from Nazi occupation and which find their greatest expression in the Constitution".
This was stated by the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation.
"Today - added the second highest office of the Senate - 80 years have passed, it is a short time compared to eternity, but very long compared to the history of men and nations. Perhaps it is enough time to look with ever greater sharing and never with exploitation at what was one of the founding moments of the ancient history of Italy, of our people, of our nation. Today we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Liberation together, I truly hope, deeply with will and a united spirit".
