A ten-year long battle
Carolyn Smith, well-known choreographer and long-time president of the jury of “Dancing with the Stars”, continues to courageously fight her long battle against a malignant breast tumor. For almost ten years, her life has been marked by chemotherapy cycles and medical visits, but her determination and positivity remain unchanged. Interviewed by Silvia Toffanin on the program “Verissimo”, Carolyn shared the details of her current health condition, revealing how the fear of a worsening has accompanied her throughout her journey.
A moment of fear and the strength to react
Last November, doctors advised Carolyn to move up a checkup, an event that caused her deep concern. “I thought I was getting worse,” she said, but fortunately the news was reassuring. “Everything is under control,” she said, emphasizing her ability to face difficulties with serenity. Smith also revealed the discovery of a small lymph node in her lungs, but was quick to reassure her fans: “It’s nothing serious, I’m prone to chronic bronchitis, but everything is fine.”
A new balance and future projects
Despite the challenges, Carolyn has found a new balance in her life. “I’m calmer now and I try to enjoy every moment,” she explained. Her resilience is an example to many, and the choreographer plans to use her experience to help others. “I want to do something about myself to help other people,” she said, revealing her desire to share her passions, such as cooking, to inspire others in similar situations. Recently, she also brought cakes for her team, proving that despite adversity, her spirit remains vibrant and generous.
After her diagnosis, Carolyn became a spokesperson for AIRC, actively engaging in cancer awareness campaigns. Her story is told in the book “Ho ballato con uno sconosciuto”, published in 2017, where she shares her experience and the lessons learned during the disease. Her voice has become a beacon of hope for many, demonstrating that the fight against cancer can be faced with courage and determination. Carolyn Smith is not only a choreographer, but a symbol of resilience and strength for all those who fight against this disease.
