Rome, November 14 (Adnkronos) – "We implemented an €18.7 billion maneuver to recover from the infringement proceedings, bringing the tax rate below 3% and thus exiting the infringement proceedings. We succeeded a year early, we kept our accounts in order, and we implemented measures that combine the social and real economies. We provided interventions for businesses, such as hyper-depreciation at 180% and 220% for specific environmental situations, we intervened on the ZES, we made the tax wedge reduction structural, thus supporting the lowest incomes, but also the middle class by reducing the personal income tax rate from 35% to 33%."
This is what Maurizio Casasco, Forza Italia MP and head of the party's economics department, told Sky economia.
"There are, however," he continues, "that we are still addressing, such as double taxation within the same corporate chain, which is not just a fiscal issue but an economic one. An absolutely legitimate and positive proposal is the one regarding the revaluation of raw gold and coins. It involves introducing a measure similar to the one already used for the revaluation of land, real estate, or corporate assets. It is voluntary and follows a rule that already exists until December 31, 2023: it allows those who own gold bars or coins, only in raw form, to pay a 13% tax instead of 26%, applied on the capital gain and not on the entire consideration."
"In practice, if you own gold purchased years ago at a much lower price, perhaps tenfold today, you can revalue it by paying 13% instead of 26%. After the revaluation, you no longer pay anything when you sell. This helps prevent the black market in gold: it prevents citizens from being forced to sell to unauthorized shops or take the gold to Switzerland, and instead allows for voluntary regularization with a tax cut in half, 13% compared to 26%, permanently settling the tax status of gold received, for example, as an inheritance. This way, there will be no more surprises when you sell the gold, there will be no more costs, and you will avoid future investigations or penalties," he concludes.
