Emma Bonino: Resignation from the hospital and a break from politics
On October 17th Emma Bonino was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome, due to breathing difficulties; this morning the news of his discharge arrived.
In the interview given to Republic talks about the two weeks in hospital for a cardio-respiratory crisis:
“When you are sick it is clear that the essential questions of life and death emerge with greater force".
The political leader says she was very scared, making an unexpected announcement about her future:
“I was really scared and this time I I'm taking a break from politics".
Emma Bonino's next political goals
Interviewed by Republic, Emma bonino he emphasized that his commitment to civil rights will continue, in addition to issues such as citizenship, with the referendum also promoted by +Europa scheduled between April and June 2025, and the end of life. However, he preferred not to comment on political issues that have occurred in recent days, such as the defeat of the center-left in Liguria:
"No political controversy for now, first I have to take care of my health and recover and so I dedicate myself to healing myself. There is a time for everything. In any case I have nothing to say to Renzi, nor he to me”.
On the American front, he clearly expressed his support for Kamala Harris, warning that a Trump victory could lead to an overturning of democratic principles.

Bonino has declared that, at the moment, her priority is to get back to health. She explained that, after being admitted to the intensive care unit of the Santo Spirito hospital, she was transferred to a clinic where she began cardio-respiratory rehabilitation:
“I want to recover my strength and I want to recover it quickly, there is so much to do", he added.
