Jenin, October 14 (askanews) – Freed Palestinian prisoners are welcomed by their families in Jenin, as part of the hostage and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas, part of the peace agreement. The Islamist movement Hamas freed the last 20 living hostages it was holding in exchange for 1.968 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel.
"We've forgotten we were displaced, we've forgotten everything. Today is a day of joy. My sister died less than three weeks ago, we haven't forgotten her, but the joy prevents us from expressing it. It's a mixture of happiness and tears," says Khawla Sayes, sister of a freed prisoner.
Jamal Qanba, father of a prisoner released and deported to Egypt: "That day, our brother Ali al-Quneiri was freed from the oppressive prisons of the occupation. Thank God, many of our Palestinian children were released and deported to Egypt. My son Ahmed was among them and left for Egypt this afternoon."
For Ragheb Abou Diak, uncle of prisoner Samer Abou Diak, "this joy is incomplete; he left his companions in the prisons of the Israeli occupation. But he is certain, and so are we, of God's victory and the liberation of all prisoners."
