Milan, October 12 (Adnkronos) – Former Pavia Deputy Prosecutor Mario Venditti, under investigation for corruption in judicial proceedings for allegedly facilitating the dismissal of Andrea Sempio's case in 2007, will appear before the Brescia Review Court on Tuesday, October 14. His defense attorney, Domenico Aiello, has appealed the seizure order issued on September 26.
Among the defense's reasons are the "absence of serious evidence" necessary to contest corruption in this case, and the "lack of urgency to proceed with a search."
The defense brief refers to "the lack of criteria or reasons to believe there is evidence of a 2017 crime in Venditti's devices," namely, the cell phone, documents, or computer searched and subsequently seized. The defense claims the order signed by Brescia prosecutor Francesco Prete and prosecutor Claudia Moregola is "an exploratory and arbitrary action intended to violate the home and privacy of a private citizen." The review court's decision on Venditti is expected within the next week, i.e., by October 18th.
Aiello doesn't hide the fact that this is a "complex" time for former magistrate Venditti, also under investigation for the 'Clean' affair. "My client has witnessed an unjustified attack on a legacy of values and honesty he spent a lifetime building. His image is compromised; they've destroyed a man because he found himself in a heretical equation (corrupt Venditti equals innocent murderer and new suspect guilty, ed.). Who will ever be able to restore his senseless destroyed honor?" Aiello concludes.
