Brescia, November 14 (Adnkronos) – New hearings and an investigation that continues despite the current inability to access phones and computers. The Brescia Prosecutor's Office is proceeding swiftly, and without preconceptions, with its investigation into alleged corruption surrounding the Garlasco case and the hypothesis that the dismissal of the case received by Andrea Sempio in 2017 was facilitated—for a fee estimated at between 20 and 30 euros—by former Pavia Deputy Prosecutor Mario Venditti, who is under investigation alongside Giuseppe Sempio for corruption.
The first in the guise of the corrupt, the other in that of the corrupter.
While the transfer of cash and no invoice to the former defense team of the 38-year-old, under investigation for the conspiracy to murder Chiara Poggi, seems confirmed—lawyers Federico Soldani, Simone Grassi, and Massimo Lovati were heard as witnesses—it remains unclear how the money changed hands, and whether anyone may have claimed they could easily dismiss the case behind the backs of investigators and Venditti himself. This possibility would derail the corruption investigation, potentially leading to charges of false pretences or a possible tax violation.
The Brescia Prosecutor's Office, with Chief Prosecutor Francesco Prete and Public Prosecutor Claudia Moregola in charge of the case, remains in charge of the 'note' found at the Sempio home, containing the phrase and amount of the alleged corruption, as well as the "anomalies" in the transcript of the wiretaps and some suspicious behavior by former Carabinieri officers Silvio Sapone and Giuseppe Spoto. Following the Court of Review's rejection, there is still no way to access the contents of the computer devices of former magistrate Venditti and the two military personnel who worked with him. The Prosecutor's Office—which did not appear in court today for the second review hearing, deeming its ruling sufficient—is "confident" it will be able to find evidence of the crime on those cell phones.
