Milan, May 15 (Adnkronos) – Stefania Cappa, one of Chiara Poggi’s cousins (never investigated) is once again one of the most talked about names in the new investigation into Chiara Poggi’s murder, but almost 18 years later there is not a single piece of evidence against her. In the four reports given to the Carabinieri, the young woman, now a lawyer specializing in sports law, explains every detail of that August 13, 2007, her relationship with the victim, her friendship with Alberto Stasi – definitively sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend – and the famous photo left with her sister Paola (the press nicknames them the 'K twins') in front of the house on Via Pascoli in Garlasco.

Today, after the revelations of another witness seem to point weakly towards the family track, her words – verified by investigators – silence possible slander and perhaps social hatred. In the reports, starting from the day of the crime, Stefania Cappa reconstructs the almost daily relationship, in the last month, with her twenty-six year old cousin, the last meeting on Friday 10 August and the promise made on the phone to see each other on the afternoon of 13 August 2007. A meeting that will not take place. That Monday morning "from 7 to 9.20 I studied criminal law and from 9.30 to 10.15 I was on the phone with my friend: I went back to studying until the following 11.30, I had lunch and went to the swimming pool (at 12-12.15) until 15 with my friend". A normal life - while her sister is bedridden for a leg operation - interrupted by the news that Chiara Poggi has died. Among the details told are the vacation in England, where Chiara joins Alberto, and her cousin's confidence that "Alberto looked at pornographic things". An acquaintance, that between Stefania Cappa and Alberto Stasi that dates back to "high school" but that remains only superficial: "there have never been circumstances of common meetings not even on formal occasions like that of his graduation. In all I have met Stasi a few times, even in Chiara's company it happened rarely".

On February 7, 2008, Stefania Cappa was interviewed by the Vigevano Carabinieri and recalled when on August 17, 2007 – four days after her cousin's murder – she remained in a room with Stasi waiting to be heard. A meeting immortalized with a video and an embrace between the two. "In that context, I asked him if he knew if Chiara had any suitors that Chiara had rejected and he replied: 'absolutely not'" reports the victim's cousin. "While we were waiting, I also asked him to tell me what had happened on the morning of August 13. He told me the story that I later read and also gave in the reports to the investigators. I remember asking him 'why did you do something like that?' referring to the fact that in the 118 courses the first thing they teach us is self-defense and therefore for me it was imprudent to climb over the wall and enter the house, having found the gate closed and receiving no response from Chiara" he adds. "However, it seemed strange to me that having had the impulse to enter he did not then approach Chiara. He did not answer me, saying he was in shock, then he started crying and added that he was afraid that no accounting firm would ever hire him again".
