Gianfranco Manfredi, author of “Magico Vento” and of numerous comics of Dylan Dog, Tex, Nick Rider and other comics for Bonelli, is dead to 76 years.
Gianfranco Manfredi has died
His daughter Diana announced his death in a post on Facebook:
“It is with immense sorrow that I announce the passing of my father Gianfranco Manfredi. A true genius who always knew how to read and interpret the world and its changes, a curious mind that never stopped studying, discovering and updating himself. In the last two years he wrote continuously despite his illness: literary and historical essays, comics, songs, volumes on cinema, screenplays, his newsletter. A brilliant mind and a never tired artist who gave so much to those who were lucky enough to know him in person or through his music, his books and his comics. Artists like him never leave us, Gianfranco will always live on through everything he left us and this eases our pain”.
His creativity extended far beyond the world of comics: Manfredi was a screenwriter, singer, composer, novelist, essayist and actor, leaving an indelible mark in various artistic fields.
After a long illness lasting two years, Gianfranco Manfredi leaves behind his wife Mirella and his three daughters, Diana, Elena and Cora. His funeral they will keep fit reserved, in intimacy with family and closest friends.
The success of Gianfranco Manfredi
Gianfranco Manfredi has collaborated with great musicians such as Gino Paoli, Mia Martini, Gaber, Jannacci and many others, also writing books of music criticism on artists such as Lucio Battisti, Celentano and Mina.
He was the voice of “Quarto Oggiaro Story” and author of albums such as “La crisi” and “Zombie di tutto il mondo unite”. As a novelist, he has published fifteen books, including Red magic e Hollywood or Death. In comics, he is known for creating Magic Wind in 1997 and series like Hidden Face e Loose dogs. In recent years, he had returned to non-fiction with titles such as Once upon a time there were the people e The Myth of Tarzan, published by Allagalla in 2023.
Sergio Bonelli Editore remembered Gianfranco Manfredi as one of the most talented and versatile authors of their history. With Magic Wind he managed to blend the appeal of the western with the darkness of horror, winning the affection of numerous readers.
