Hurricane Kirk in Italy: Possible downpours and windstorms

After the intense disturbance that hit several regions on Tuesday 8 October, causing local problems, the bad weather is expected to intensify. Wednesday 9 October, showers and thunderstorms are expected especially between the central-southern Tyrrhenian regions, with recent precipitation also in Lombardy and Triveneto, but gradually fading from the west. However, the worst is yet to come.

For 3BMeteo, the remnants of former Hurricane Kirk, heading from the Atlantic, will reach France by Wednesday evening, bringing heavy rains and strong winds. The wave of bad weather will also hit Italy, with weather conditions worsening already in the late afternoon on Wednesday, especially in the North-West and in Lombardy, where heavy rains are expected between central-eastern Liguria and the Alps.

Thursday 10 October, the disturbance will extend over much of the North and part of the Centre, increasing the risk of cloudbursts, particularly in eastern Liguria, in northern Tuscany, Lombardy and Triveneto, with accumulations exceeding one hundred millimetres. The bad weather will also hit Sardinia and southern Tyrrhenian regions, while the Adriatic areas and Sicily could be excluded from this wave of bad weather.

On Friday, October 11, the front will move eastward, with a drop in temperatures in the South and a slight increase in the Center-North. The weekend will bring a gradual improvement, with Saturday still variable in the North-West, while Sunday will be mostly dry, with clear or partly cloudy skies in the South and temperatures that could exceed 25 degrees, especially on the islands.
