"Credo" the new album by Mondo Marcio tells life in 12 songs

Milan, 24 Apr. (askanews) – Mondo Marcio, one of the first rappers to have brought the genre to a mainstream audience and one of the first to have treated his tracks as personal therapy, returns with 'Credo' an intimate concept album with reflections on the concept of 'humanity' as well as on the impact that the deformation of today's societies has on the latter.

The album's title also refers to the concept of personal 'credo'.

'I never stopped believing in myself because it is the petrol that makes the engine work so this has always been the first thing never to lose motivation and I never stopped believing in doing the right thing, I think that even if you are not taught or in any case inside you if you listen carefully you know what is the right thing to do in certain situations so these two have been the constants throughout my career.'

Between Present, past and future, the album represents the description of a life in 12 songs, practically without collaborations. 'There are no featuring on the album, well actually there are in the sense that they are even more valuable because they are even closer to me, at home in the sense that my mother is in the album and so a lot of stuff just that but jokes aside I thought about the possibility of putting some featuring on the album actually it wasn't the right thing to put some featuring a little stuck on today there is a little this trend of collaborating with a slightly mechanical utility of the collaboration, that is to increase the fan base etc. There is nothing wrong with it, but this album here that goes a little towards the directions of a concept album was very precise in the narrative that I had chosen, that we had chosen together with my team and so sticking some featuring a little just to put the golden dust of the featuring would have diverted a little from the story that I wanted to tell with the songs. And so here we are'.

An icon of Italian hip hop, the Milanese rapper talks about his love-hate relationship with his city.

'Even with the limitations that a city like Milan can have, I focus on the opportunities that it has given me and that it can give you every day. It is a city that always gives you the right motivation to fight, in the sense that it is a very combative city and this for me has been a plus.'

On Saturday 10th May the artist is expected for an event date at the Fabrique in Milan.
