Edward Marchesi INPS has announced the launch of a systematic review of single allowance applications submitted for 2026. The procedure stems from the discovery of inconsistencies in the Single Substitute Declaration (DSU) regarding declared income, which could compromise the correct payment of social benefits.
Information campaign and possible redeterminations in September
According to the Institute's internal press release, those who have submitted a DSU to obtain the current ISEE certification will be contacted in the next few days.
The notice states that, in the absence of a valid ISEE, the monthly amount of the single allowance may be temporarily recalculated starting in September 2026, in accordance with regulatory provisions. For those who did not submit an ISEE, the July payment was set at €58 per child, a value that may vary based on the new income assessment.
How will beneficiaries be informed?
Communications will be sent directly through traditional INPS channels (certified email, registered letter, or SMS). The message will specify any discrepancies found and the procedures for regularizing the situation, indicating the deadline for providing additional documentation.

The average amount per child, including applicable increases, was €177. The range of payments ranges from €58 for those who don't submit an ISEE or exceed the maximum threshold of €46.582,71, to €227 for the lowest ISEE bracket (up to €17.468,51).
Distribution by income bracket
Nearly 4,8 million children (just under half the total) fall into the lowest ISEE bracket, while the remaining 5,0 million are in higher income brackets. This distribution shows that most beneficiaries receive an amount between €58 and €177, with a gradual increase as family income decreases.

The press release of September 16, 2026, indicates that, in the first seven months of the year, the single allowance required a total expenditure of 11,6 billion euros, in addition to the 19,8 billion already disbursed in 2025.
