Rome, June 13 (Adnkronos Salute) – Antonella Campana is the new president of the IncontraDonna Foundation. A Roman, university professor of mathematical methods for economics and actuarial and financial sciences at the Universitas Mercatorum, she boasts a solid academic and institutional background. She was vice president of the Aiom Foundation in the two-year period 2021-2023 and has held the role of volunteer and patient advocate within IncontraDonna for many years, closely following its development and transformation into a Foundation.
She takes over from Adriana Bonifacino, founder, who – on the occasion of the expiration of the appointed mandate in April 2022 – chose to conclude her term as president, after years of passionate leadership, while remaining an active and valuable figure in the role of founder and member of the Board of Directors, a note informs. The handover took place yesterday in Rome. With this appointment – it is stated – the presidency is entrusted for the first time to a patient advocate, as evidence of the important path of growth, training and involvement carried out in recent years within the Foundation. A choice that expresses the desire to strengthen active participation and to build, to face future challenges with competence and sharing.
"I am honored to have been chosen to take on this role," says Campana. "I will use my experience as a patient and volunteer to contribute to the continued growth of the Foundation. I have always shared the principles that have guided the life of the association because they are mine: acting to promote prevention, good practices in healthcare, fair and timely access to new therapies with validated efficacy, correct information and the right to health for all. Taking on the role of president of the Foundation for me is not a goal, but a challenge aimed at the future that I accept with the same commitment and passion as always and, I hope, with a far-sighted gaze." Bonifacino comments: "The IncontraDonna Foundation is entering a new decade of activity. It is time to look forward with courage, aware that every solid change, built on structured foundations and on a vision matured over time, represents an opportunity for growth. A new path begins that will expand the Foundation's range of action and strengthen our commitment, also in the promotion and support of scientific research. The appointment of Antonella Campana, historic patient advocate of the IncontraDonna Foundation, represents a conscious choice of which I am proud. I wish the new president and the renewed Board of Directors good work".
The new Board of Directors of the Foundation will be composed of the following: Antonella Campana, president; Adriana Bonifacino, founder; Gianfranco Battisti, vice president; Giovanni Bruni, vice president; Generoso De Maio, general secretary; Antonella Iadanza, patient advocate; Antonella Galeone, patient advocacy coordination; Nicoletta Alborino, head of sports activities; Anna Maria Scaiola, coordinator of the SopratTutto Scrivere – Lara Facondi literary prize; Andrea Botticelli, head of the Breast unit of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome; Nicola Silvestris, director of Medical Oncology Irccs Istituto tumori Giovanni Paolo II Bari, national secretary Aiom. Sonia Carisi, general director, and Marco Barletta, supervisory body, were reconfirmed.
