Joe Bryant, champion of Italian and American basketball, is dead today, Tuesday 16 July, at the age of 69. He had recently suffered a stroke, from which he never fully recovered.

Four years after the tragedy accident which involved his son Kobe Bryant and granddaughter Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant, Joe Bryant has passed away. The causes, according to the media, are linked to complications arisen following a ictus accused not long ago.
Joe Bryant's career
The father of legend of basketball he played for years in the NBA, selected as the fourteenth pick by the Warrios in the first round of the 1975 draft, and then moved to the Philadelphia 76ers. After playing in the NBA he stayed in Italy up to 1991: played in Rieti, Reggio Calabria, Pistoia and Reggio Emilia.
In 1985 the American basketball player twice won the award as best player of the Italian All Star Game. Then, following his retirement he became allenatore.
The bond with his son Kobe
Joe had been a key figure in the early years of his career son, except to move away over time.
The bond, which had made their relationship special, gradually faded away fell apart, leading the two to move away almost permanently at the moment in which the relationship between mother Pam and dad Joe went into crisis. Joe and Pam also missed their son's basketball farewell ceremony in 2016.
