Rome, October 14 (Adnkronos) – Over 200 civic leaders from across Italy will meet on Monday, October 20, at 5:30 PM, at the Parco dei Principi Hotel in Rome to discuss and contribute to the creation of a new civic and reformist political force. The initiative is promoted by Alessandro Onorato, Councilor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism, and Fashion, who has been touring Italy for months, networking the civic experiences of each city and municipality.
Among the event's keynote speakers were Silvia Salis, mayor of Genoa; Ismaele La Vardera, a Sicilian regional representative, who has been under police protection for a few days now for his ongoing commitment to fighting the mafia in Sicily; Alberto De Toni, mayor of Udine; and Gaetano Manfredi, mayor of Naples and president of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), who will deliver the closing remarks.
Many other speakers from across Italy will take turns on the stage. From Caltanissetta to Bolzano, from Salerno to the municipalities of Emilia Romagna, from Fabriano to the Lazio municipalities of Nettuno, Fiano Romano, and Viterbo, all the way to San Vito al Tagliamento and L'Aquila. Different regions, similar needs. "This is proof that a civic network already exists; we are uniting and developing it. The event is open to all; we have no preconceptions and we are not antagonistic to any center-left party. We want to be a new political force that unites, that adds themes, proposals, and solutions to our field," commented Onorato.
