But between the truce and peace there are still difficult steps and many unknowns. And there is one essential step: the recognition of Palestine," declared the Democratic Party's national foreign affairs director, MP Peppe Provenzano, speaking this morning on Sky24.
"What is happening in Gaza," Provenzano continued, "with the showdown between gangs and Hamas, makes it urgent to involve the Palestinian National Authority, guaranteeing the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. Italy, Europe, and the entire international community must now commit to reaching the other parts of the agreement. In this context, recognizing Palestine guarantees the process will lead to the two-state solution, the only solution that ensures true peace. Meloni continues to say that the time has not yet come: we would not want Italy to be the last country to recognize the State of Palestine."
