Rome, November 11 (Adnkronos) – I support the separation of careers, on the Einaudi Foundation's committee for the "yes" vote, because "I am still what I have been, I was a prosecutor then and I feel a prosecutor in my soul now, and I feel it is my duty to inform citizens of how things really are, with this reform which, regardless of who wants to blame it, is necessary to complete a framework of reforms born in '89."

An accusatory trial, with a judge who is independent of the parties, the prosecutor on one side, the lawyer on the other, "first there was a judge who conducted the investigation and then decided: did I do it well or badly?" "But that reform framework wasn't completed at the time," Antonio Di Pietro said on Cinque minuti on Rai 1.

"I would like citizens," he continues, "to be able to vote yes or no, fully informed about what this reform is—a reform of the judicial system. I would like there to be a third-party judge, completely independent of the prosecutor. It's not true that this reform undermines the autonomy and independence of the judiciary and the prosecutor; it's not true that it will fall under the executive branch or become 'stronger.'"

This reform has stripped the CSM of its own power to judge itself, handing it over to a different disciplinary court. Thus, disciplinary assessments are not conducted within factions, as recommended by the National Magistrates' Association (ANM). We have cases where serving magistrates, perhaps convicted, continue to do the same job in the same place; there's something jarring about that. Don't listen to those who make you believe they become subservient to the executive, that the prosecutor becomes a super cop. If he respects the law, who doesn't want a stronger prosecutor?
