A serious accident on the A1
A dramatic road accident hit the A1, precisely between Fidenza (Parma) and Fiorenzuola (Piacenza), involving four police cars. These were on escort duty for the Milan fans, returning from the Coppa Italia final. The episode took place near the A15 junction, creating not only concern for the injured, but also considerable traffic disruption.
The consequences of the accident
According to initial reconstructions, the accident occurred due to a lateral impact between two vehicles, which triggered a series of pile-ups. Among the injured, one was transported by helicopter in serious condition, while another suffered medium-serious injuries. Other injured, although less serious, were assisted by ambulances that arrived on the scene. The situation required immediate intervention by rescuers, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
Traffic disruption and restoration of road network
Traffic along the A1 suffered heavy repercussions, with queues that extended for about ten kilometres towards Milan and slowdowns also towards Bologna, due to the curiosity of passers-by. Fortunately, around 20 pm, the competent authorities communicated that the accident had been resolved and that traffic had returned to normal, with all lanes available for transit. However, the episode raised questions about the safety of escort operations and traffic management in emergency situations.
