Rome, October 13 (Adnkronos) – 'Generazione acqua', Acea's water resource protection and education program, "places water at the center of citizens' lives, seeking to raise public awareness on this issue." This was stated by Virman Cusenza, Acea's communications director, speaking in Rome at the presentation of the second edition of the contest 'The Thousand Faces of Water – Guardians of Water' and the retrospective 'Drops of Cinema'.
Promoted by Acea, in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and the Rome Film Festival, as part of the latter's 20th edition, which kicks off October 15th, the contest and retrospective explore water, a precious and essential element for life, through the eyes of young videomakers and renowned directors.
"This year, the contest, which we've brought back and is enjoying excellent participation, introduces a concept that represents an upgrade from last year: 'The Guardians of Water.'" The starting point of the first edition was, in fact, to raise awareness about water consumption and conservation," he explains, "and thus avoid waste. This year, with 'The Guardians of Water,' we wanted to empower citizens to not simply consume water more sensibly and rationally, but also to play a stewardship role, thus becoming an active participant in the process of water conservation."
"With 'Guardians of Water,' we wanted to directly empower citizens with their responsibility to ensure a future for water, and therefore for themselves. The partnership with the Rome Film Fest is very important," he adds, "especially since we decided to focus it on the protection and stewardship of water resources. We believe that cinema is the ideal vehicle for conveying the values intrinsic to a resource like water. A very happy partnership that the citizens have also greatly appreciated."
