Building collapses in Rome: the hypotheses and rescue operations

Dopo un loud bang a building collapsed in the heart of the capital. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday 23 March and several teams of firefighters intervened on site, in addition to the 118 ambulances. First of all to secure the area and secondly to begin digging through the rubble and verify the presence of any people.

The rubble buried some vehicles that were parked near thecollapsed building. Also a person remained buried, and after being located by the firefighters she was extracted alive and then stabilized on a stretcher and rushed to the hospital due to the injuries she sustained: it seems to be a man. Witnesses revealed that they heard a very loud bang similar to that of an explosion and even compared to the detonation of a bomb a few moments before the collapse: for which reason it is assumed, also because a strong smell of gas was subsequently released in the area, that the accident may have occurred for a gas leak. The possible presence of other people is not excluded. (News being updated)
