Palermo, 7 Feb. (Adnkronos) – The President of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, is "carefully following the evolution of the situation after the earthquake measuring 4,8 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre east of Alicudi, but which was felt in various areas of the island".
"I am in constant contact with the head of the regional Civil Protection, Salvo Cocina - says Schifani - who in turn is in close contact with the mayor of Lipari, with the prefect of Messina and with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology for an initial and rapid monitoring of any damage, which at the moment has not been reported. The Region is, however, ready to intervene with all the means available to support the communities involved and guarantee the safety of citizens".
