Rome, November 14 (Adnkronos) – The fourth edition of the Festival of American Culture opened yesterday evening, November 13, at the American Studies Center at Via Michelangelo Caetani 32 in Rome. This year's theme was "The American Dream: Myth, Reality, and Contradictions."
The opening evening, introduced by the Center's director Roberto Sgalla, got off to an exciting start with a performance by the Tor Vergata University of Rome Gospel Choir, which immediately captivated the audience with its energy and intensity.
Speakers included Karen Schinnerer (US Embassy), Federica Di Pillo (American Chamber of Commerce), Daniele Fiorentino (American Culture Festival Organizing Committee), and Paolo Gaudenzi (Councilor for Scientific Cooperation at the Italian Consulate General in Boston). They all emphasized the importance of the chosen theme and the collaborative relationships that link the Center for American Studies with numerous cultural entities, which will be featured throughout the festival.
The evening was enhanced by a speech by Monica Maggioni, a member of the Center's board of directors, who highlighted how the American Dream is a concept that embraces people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, emphasizing that everyone, from their own perspectives, can achieve and live it.
The atmosphere was made even more engaging by the 40s swing music of the Smile Orchestra, which accompanied the guests and helped transform the inauguration into a moment of celebration and reflection.
The Festival will continue in the coming days with meetings, debates, and events dedicated to exploring the many facets of the American myth, including dreams, contradictions, and contemporary realities.
