Milan, October 14 (Adnkronos) – Now in its eighth year, the Leasing Exhibition, organized by Assilea – the Italian Leasing Association, returns to Milan on October 22nd and 23rd. Industry data and leasing challenges, finance, businesses and public administration, banks and financial intermediaries in an era of global uncertainty, leasing and the European Union, prudential regulations applied to leasing, sustainable mobility and the financial sector, AI and drivers of change are the main topics of discussion at the 11 roundtables organized into three thematic sessions that look to the future.
Speakers included Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy and Finance (via video link), Antonio Patuelli, President of ABI (Italian Banking Association), Bernardo Mattarella, CEO of Invitalia, Stefano Firpo, Director General of Assonime, Marco Calabrò, Head of the Department for Business Policies at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, and Richard Knubben, Secretary General of Leaseurope.
"Raising greater and more in-depth knowledge of leasing and its potential, including compared to other similar financial instruments, strengthening representation in all institutional bodies, including European ones, and engaging with other associations and Italian and European institutions, are the guidelines the trade association is pursuing, and these are fully reflected in the organization of the show," commented Paolo Guzzetti, president of Assilea. "Despite the highly uncertain environment for businesses caused by geopolitical tensions and the ongoing global redefinition of trade relations, leasing closed the first nine months of 2025 with a positive performance (+5,2%), with new transactions reaching nearly €26 billion. Leasing remains the primary financial instrument used by SMEs to invest, innovate, and grow, and we are therefore very pleased to note, even in such a challenging year, that leasing credit support for Italian SMEs is continuing, and indeed growing."
In the January-September 2025 period, leasing grew by 5,2%, with new contracts totaling nearly €26 billion and 558.937 transactions. Capital goods grew particularly strongly (+15,1%), with positive growth in both financial leasing (+17,8%) and operating leasing (+1,5%). "Leasing," explains Assilea General Manager Luca Ziero, "is also a powerful development tool; 58,9% of companies using it have a strong propensity for growth, compared to the Italian average of 37,7%; 39,7% of leasing companies have a high level of digitalization, compared to the Italian average of 21,8%; and finally, 37,1% of companies using it have a high propensity for export, compared to the Italian average of 26,5%.
Among other key leasing market trends in the first nine months of 2025, the automotive sector (cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial vehicles) showed a slight increase in both value and number (+0,7%), with a jump in leasing commercial vehicles and a slight slowdown in leasing passenger cars; green fuels accounted for a high proportion of total leasing and long-term rental registrations (62,4% compared to 55,8% of all new registrations); the real estate sector grew (+3,5% in value), driven by the positive performance of the "under construction" segment (+14,5%); the naval/aircraft/railway sector also grew (+55,8%), almost entirely driven by the nautical sector, as did the leasing of non-registered photovoltaic systems (+24,9%), while overall the leasing of systems for the production of energy from renewable sources decreased.
The Leasing-Lease2025 Show will take place on October 22nd and 23rd in Milan, at the Hotel Magna Pars in Via Tortona 15.
