Tuscany regional appeal

Tuscany regional elections: Bundu passes the threshold, Red Tuscany announces an appeal. All the developments following Giani's confirmation.

The elections regional in Toscana They confirmed Eugenio Giani, but also highlighted the surprising personal result of Antonella Bundu, presidential candidate for Toscana Rossa, who garnered over 72 votes (5,18%), exceeding the individual threshold. The list, however, stopped at 4,5%, remaining outside the Regional Council. This gap has prompted Toscana Rossa to want to present a appeal.

A symbolic result and the challenge of the alternative left

Despite the failure election of representatives in the Council, Bundu's result had strong political resonance. The candidate, a former city councilor and former candidate for mayor of Florence, obtained consensus higher than that of the League and the 5 Star Movement, demonstrating the vitality of an autonomous and radical political proposal in Tuscany.

"We started with 0,5% given to us and we fought without being sure of being able to get in.…We are very happy anyway”, Bundu declared, underlining the symbolic value of his “almost victory”.

His candidacy has called into question the alliances and strategies of the center-left, highlighting an electoral space for an alternative left that challenges both the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement. However, the persistent abstention only 47% turnout — and the 5% threshold remain significant obstacles.

Red Tuscany: Bundu's personal success and the legal appeal

La list Toscana Rossa has announced its intention to appeal its exclusion from the Regional Council, focusing exclusively on the votes received by presidential candidate Antonella Bundu. Bundu, in fact, has exceeded the threshold of individual barrage, collecting il 5,18% of preferences with over 72 thousand votes, while the list who supported her it stopped at 4,5%, below the 5% needed to obtain representation.

The candidate explained that many voters chose only her name, "without casting a split vote," and that the appeal will be based precisely on this evidence, recalling a similar precedent from the 2020 Veneto regional elections, when the Court of Appeal recognized the validity of votes cast solely for the M5S presidential candidate, exceeding the minimum threshold for the list. Bundu commented:

"Rather than focusing only on the appeal, I would like to say that this electoral law must be changed not only for us", highlighting the difficulties posed by a high threshold and the signatures required to run.

The political and judicial game now shifts to the courts and future strategies, to see whether this result can become the springboard for a stable leading role for the radical left.
