Budapest, October 17 (Adnkronos) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said he plans to discuss his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Budapest with Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning. "Last night I had a telephone conversation with the American president," he told Radio Kossuth.
"And I will speak with President Putin this morning," he added, expressing hope that the upcoming talks between the two leaders in the Hungarian capital will represent an important step toward resolving the Ukrainian conflict. "From the very beginning, we have said that war is bad, but that doesn't mean we should close diplomatic channels. Without diplomatic channels, there is no peace," the Hungarian prime minister added.
Orbán stressed that the upcoming meeting between Putin and Trump "serves the interests of all Hungarian families," as it will facilitate an end to the conflict in Ukraine, which is hindering the normal development of European economies, including Hungary's.
