Four police cars, engaged in escorting AC Milan fans returning from the Coppa Italia final, were involved in a accident on the A1 motorway, on the border between Fidenza (Parma) and Fiorenzuola (Piacenza), near the junction for the A15. The impact has caused several injuries and long queues in both directions: about ten kilometers of congestion towards Milan and slowdowns also in the direction of Bologna, caused by the curiosity effect.
According to initial reconstructions, two vehicles reportedly collided laterally, then triggering a series of chain collisions.
Major accident on A1: four police cars involved, several urgent hospitalizations
After the accident was reported, at kilometer 80+600 in a northerly direction, on the border between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza, near Alseno, numerous 118 ambulances intervened to provide assistance to the injured. The firefighters and the traffic police also arrived on site.
As reported by The Corriere della Sera, there are reportedly nine injured, all belonging to the police: one would be in more difficult conditions critical and was transferred by helicopter, while another is said to have a medium severity. The others involved reportedly suffered less serious injuries and are awaiting further investigation.
