Codacons' accusations against Big Brother, the official response of Canale 5
After the accusations of the Codacons to Big Brother, the reply arrived, with an official statement, from the director of Canale 5, Giancarlo Scheri: "I would like to respond to your comments by highlighting how the program, in our opinion, respects rules and regulations and, without a doubt, human dignity.” Scheri also said that, since Big Brother is a reality show, it is not possible to control everything, and therefore less edifying episodes may happen: "branding an entire program as trash because of individual episodes would be an unfair and misleading simplification. " The director of Canale 5 also underlined that social media offers much more extreme material and that TV instead provides tools such as parental control. However, Codacons immediately responded, accusing Big Brother of not having moderated episodes such as blasphemies, obscene acts, explicit sex, violent behavior but of having instead sensationalized them.
