Alberto Stasi he had been sentenced to 16 years for the murder of his girlfriend Chiara Poggi. Yesterday, Stasi received a rejection from the ECHR to his appeal in which, through his lawyers, he asked to annul the final sentence, but this year he can request probation.
Alberto Stasi leaves prison? Here's why his final conviction could be overturned
The European Court of Human Rights rejected the request to overturn the final sentence of 16 years of imprisonment by the defense of Alberto Stasi. According to the ECHR, Stasi's appeal is "inadmissible“. The man had been definitively sentenced in 2015 to 16 years in prison for themurder of his girlfriend Chiara Poggi on August 13, 2007. The appeal was rejected but, this year, Alberto Stasi can request probation.
The request for probation
The ECHR therefore rejected the appeal presented by the defence of Alberto Stasi but this year it can request theprobationary custody, or the possibility of serving the final sentence outside of prison, undergoing a probationary period whose outcome, if positive, will extinguish the sentence and any penal effects. If this is also denied, Stasi will have to wait another three years before leaving prison. Let us remember that since 2023 Alberto Stasi has been leaving prison every day to work as an accountant, returning to his cell in the evening.
