Rome, 6 Feb. (Adnkronos) – “The news that the International Criminal Court has opened a case on the actions of the Italian government was inevitable. Yesterday in the chamber, Minister Nordio effectively presented an ex officio defense of a torturer, attacking instead those who were trying to arrest him and do the right thing". This is what Democratic MP Matteo Orfini said.
"It is clear that the Criminal Court has reason to raise objections, especially in light of the statements of the Minister of Justice himself, who admitted that he did not respect the law. The latter in fact provides for an automatic procedure: it was not and is not up to him to object to the acts of the International Criminal Court. The law does not provide for this."
"We need responsibility, the government should change its line, but unfortunately we already know that it will not do so and will continue to attack judges, in Italy and abroad, in an attempt to distract public opinion from the gravity of this affair, which is increasingly opaque and not very transparent. Yesterday's briefing was not at all exhaustive, the government showed up with contradictory reconstructions. We believe that there are no more excuses for the Prime Minister to desert Parliament. Giorgia Meloni has the duty to show up in the chamber to clarify the government's position" concludes the Democrat.
