Rome, May 15 (Adnkronos) – “The blitz with which the right wanted to schedule a bill on conflict of interest in the 1st Commission in the Senate is serious and disturbing”. This is what Senator Walter Verini, Pd Group Leader in Anti-Mafia, said when approached by journalists in the Senate.

"This is essentially an attempt to exclude (with the votes of the political majority in office which – according to the proposal – establishes the existence or otherwise of conflicts of interest) from the work of the Commission two former anti-mafia magistrates who are members of the Commission, Cafiero De Raho and Scarpinato.

This is an authoritarian and dangerous method and proposal, formulated by someone who has never wanted and does not want to really deal with real conflicts of interest and who, as was also seen yesterday, intends to use hearings like that of General Mori to delegitimize many forces and personalities who have fought crime".

"And to hide the now engraved historical and judicial truths of the relationships between the mafia, massacres, contracts, occult powers, black extremism, political subjects. It is a method and a proposal that we will strongly oppose, as we have already done in Antimafia, also because it directly affects the role and prerogatives of parliamentarians".
