A bachelor party that turns violent
A group of Italian friends went to Zagreb to celebrate a stag party, but their experience turned into a nightmare. Last Saturday, while they were at the stadium to watch a Dinamo match, they were brutally attacked by some Croatian ultras.
This episode of violence has raised concerns not only for the safety of fans, but also for the image of football in general.
The story of the victims
One of the boys, who returned to Italy, recounted what happened: “One of them asked us where we were from and when we said 'Italy', they started punching and kicking us.” The situation quickly escalated, with the Italian fans finding themselves surrounded by a group of attackers dressed in black. Despite being in a quiet part of the stadium, the atmosphere changed dramatically, leaving the boys at the mercy of the violence.
Indifference of the authorities
A disturbing aspect of this story is the indifference shown by a steward present in the stands. According to witnesses, the steward witnessed the beating without intervening. This raises questions about security inside stadiums and the training of security personnel. After the attack, the boys managed to escape and ask the police for help, but the damage had already been done.
The consequences of the attack
Six of the boys sustained injuries, with one of them suffering a fractured orbital plate. After receiving treatment in hospital, they filed a complaint for the attack. The situation also attracted the attention of the Italian embassy, which promised to intervene to clarify the incident. This episode highlights the need for tougher measures against violence in football and the protection of fans, especially when they are abroad.
