Milan, June 17 (Adnkronos) – The main theme regarding the Ai Act “was the request by companies for regulatory simplification by the European Commission and member states” so as to put “competitiveness, innovation and growth at the center, trying to create rules that can attract investments, push the creation of innovation and the adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
In this sense, there have been steps forward in recent weeks and we believe it is the right path". This was stated today by the head of institutional relations at Meta, Angelo Mazzetti, on the sidelines of the round table organized by Meta in collaboration with ISPI "Ai governance between innovation and rules: a European challenge", which was held in Milan.
The main differences between the United States and Europe "lie in the difference in approach to the matter," Mazzetti added. In the US, "growth, innovation and the possibility for businesses to test and invest in the long term have been put at the center of political activity. In the European Commission over the last few years, and within the EU more generally, the focus has been mainly on regulation and no particular attention has been paid to the legislative overlaps that have been created, to internal barriers to trade and to fragmentation." The result has been "a delay for businesses, but now we have the opportunity to take the right direction that can return to putting the issue of growth and competitiveness at the center of political initiative."
