Adnkronos Gragnano, 5 Feb. (Adnkronos) – “The Ente Idrico Campano coordinates and chairs the monitoring and coordination table of all activities related to the decontamination of the Sarno river. Our goal is to reach the end of 2025 with the elimination of 113 discharges into the environment. Today we closed the fiftieth, by the end of March we will close another 25 and, from now until the end of the year, the closures will follow one another rapidly because the work is reaching completion”. So said Luca Mascolo, president of the Ente Idrico Campano, on the sidelines of the completion ceremony of the sewer collector serving the municipalities of Gragnano, Casola di Napoli, Lettere, Santa Maria la Carità and Castellammare di Stabia, in the presence, among others, of the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca.
“The program is proceeding according to schedule,” added Mascolo. “We have made a commitment, for this and future generations, to completely decontaminate the Sarno hydrographic network and to restore full bathing safety to the Gulf of Naples. This goal is now within reach. We are keeping our promise and I want to thank Gori, as the implementing body, as well as all the workers and the Campania Region, which has deployed essential resources and support to achieve this goal. We will erase an ugly page of pollution and restore dignity to this territory.”
