Milan, 11 Nov. (Adnkronos) – "One year after the dramatic death of Giulia Cecchettin, faced with the many speeches that surround today, our high school wishes to give a significant testimony. I believe that as a school there is nothing to add to the rivers of words that have been said. Indeed, precisely because it is necessary to internalize this event, to rework a year of reflections, debates, statements, our path must be that of silence". Thus begins the circular from the director of the classical high school 'Tito Livio' of Padua that has caused more than one bad mood among the students ready to 'noisily' remember the twenty-two-year-old from Vigonovo, who in recent years attended these very classrooms.
"Whoever wishes, light a candle tonight and place it on the balcony of your room, letting it burn until the end. A sign that can remind us how Giulia's life was extinguished a year ago, slowly, like a candle" reads the circular found on the school's website.
The invitation, however, did not please the Network of Padua students. "The 'dramatic death of Giulia' did not happen slowly like the blowing out of a candle, her life was cut short, by another person, by a man, by a child of patriarchal culture... and all of this has a name, it is called femicide" they write in a note. "We, Mr. Principal, are not going along with it, there has always been too much silence in the face of these problems, as Giulia's family has always made it clear, we will continue to make noise, for Giulia, for everyone".
