Murder-suicide in Milan: Minister Nordio's decision
The Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio has ordered an internal investigation and requested an urgent report from the Milan Supervisory Court on ///, including all relevant documentation. The required documents include the two appraisals drafted by the team of psychologists and educators of the prison, relating to the years 2023 and 2024, in addition to the provision with which Judge Giulia Turri authorized the proposal for external work.
The prisoner, convicted of femicide in 2016, had been authorized to work outside the hotel and the day after Chamila's killing he attempted to attack Hani Fouad Nasra, another employee who had warned the woman about her dangerousness.
The investigation now focuses on the possible negligence or underestimation along the path that could have prevented the tragedy.
Chamila Murder, the Investigations: The Dramatic Revelation of Colleagues on Emanuele De Maria
New elements emerge in the investigations on Emanuele De Maria, the man responsible for the murder of Chamila Wijesuriya, the barmaid at the Berna hotel in Milan who was stabbed to death on May 9.
According to the statements collected by investigators among colleagues at the hotel, as reported by ANSA, the victim had expressed several times the fear of being killed by him. From the testimonies it appears that Chamila was visibly worried about De Maria's threatening behavior and feared for her safety, going so far as to ask him to keep his distance.
The public prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi has opened a new file to investigate whether there were any omissions, in particular on the part of the employer, which he would have the obligation to report any signs of danger to the prison relating to the 35 year old.
