Chefs, massages, sports: Airbnb now also offers experiences and services

Rome, May 14 (askanews) – Not just accommodations, now on Airbnb you can also book massages and home chefs, personal trainers, experiences. We are “competing with hotels that offer services,” said CEO Brian Chesky in Los Angeles, launching the revamped app that aims, he said, to offer “fantastic homes with services that make them even more special.”

There are currently ten categories of services bookable in 260 cities, a list that is growing, including visits to monuments, museums, food tours, sports, nature adventures. “There are many more experiences that we are launching, so you will see a lot more in the coming months and years, with services and experiences. I am really excited,” said Chesky.

People will also be able to use the Airbnb app to schedule services for their homes when they’re not traveling. And an AI-generated agent has also been announced to assist customers. “We think this is the best AI customer service agent in the travel industry — it’s available today for all English-speaking users in the U.S. and will be coming to French, Spanish, German, Italian, and more in the coming months,” Chesky said.

Airbnb ensures that the services offered are checked for quality, identity of the providers, licenses or certifications required. There will also be a special “Originals” section to book “extraordinary” experiences, such as playing beach volleyball with Olympian Carol Solberg on the beach in Rio de Janeiro.
