Rome, 9 Oct (Adnkronos) – "This is not Giorgia Meloni's first defeat and it won't be her last." Elly Schlein said this in an interview with 'Repubblica' in which she spoke about a phone call from the Democratic leader to the Prime Minister on Monday evening. "Everyone knows that to ensure the functioning of the Court, it is necessary for the majority and the opposition to talk to each other, it has always been this way, constitutional judges have always been elected with large majorities, thanks to patient and fair discussions between all political forces," says Schlein.
"But yesterday (Monday, ed.) we found a wall. The impression is that they wanted to move forward regardless", explains the Democratic secretary, who continues: "They did not allow us to enter into the merits of the choice because first of all the method was missing: we were denied the discussion, they made the Aventine".
For Schlein, "The proprietary idea that this right has of the highest institutions of the Republic has been defeated. They are thirsty for power. The compactness of the opposition stopped them, but it does not erase the gravity of the attempt". The Democratic secretary, among other things, underlines the compactness of the opposition: "As soon as we learned that the right was planning the coup, we all spoke and agreed to stop them".
