Milan, 30 Apr. (askanews) – “Italy starts from favorable conditions compared to other nations”. However, “there is the issue of new defenses that we are facing and have been raising at a European level for some time. When we talk about investing in defense, everyone imagines tanks. But what happened in Spain, regardless of the causes, confirms what we have been saying for some time: we risk Europe being vulnerable on the new frontiers, which are those of energy, connection, and the future of space management.
Very important issues for which we must invest in research and defense". This was stated by Giovanni Donzelli, national manager of the organization department of Fdi, speaking about the blackout in the Iberian Peninsula.
"If tomorrow someone - and China has the tools to do so - cuts an undersea cable, Europe could immediately find itself in a blackout of energy, connections, closed lines, the impossibility of delivering goods to supermarkets, withdrawing from ATMs, making transfers, chatting. It would be a blackout not only of energy but of economic and social activities. So it is necessary to invest more and more: when we talk about investing in security and defense we are not just talking about bullets and tanks but we are also talking about this", added Donzelli.
