Rome, 7 Feb. (Adnkronos Salute) – Every package of donated medicines represents a concrete hope for those living in fragile conditions. In the 2024 edition, the Medicine Collection Day allowed us to collect over 600.000 packages, for a value of over 5 million euros, offering relief to 430.000 people in difficulty and supporting 2.012 welfare organizations. This year, from 4 to 8 February 2025, Fondazione Consulcesi renews its commitment by actively participating in the Grf promoted by Banco Farmaceutico. The Foundation's volunteers, together with the employees of the Consulcesi Group, are present in the participating pharmacies in Rome and Milan to invite citizens to donate over-the-counter medicines destined for local welfare organizations.

Every year, thousands of people in Italy give up essential treatments because they cannot afford everyday medications. Among the most requested are medications for common illnesses, such as anti-inflammatories, antipyretics and nasal decongestants, but also specific devices for the treatment of wounds, gastrointestinal disorders or chronic diseases. Hence the invitation from Fondazione Consulcesi addressed to citizens to donate some of the medications most requested by welfare organizations and mobile units engaged in healthcare assistance to the most vulnerable. "In particular - explains Alessandro Falcione, Coordinator of the Mobile Unit 'Health and Inclusion' of Fondazione Consulcesi in collaboration with Fimmg Lazio - we need painkillers and anti-inflammatories, absolutely the most useful and requested. These medications are essential to address the numerous painful chronic problems that the vast majority of our users live with".

The collected medicines – a note reports – will be distributed to people in difficulty who use the social and health services offered by the Mobile Unit of the Consulcesi Foundation and other local entities. The Mobile Unit represents a key project of the Foundation: in 2024 alone, this itinerant structure provided health care to over 3.500 homeless people or those in extremely vulnerable conditions, carrying out more than 8.000 interventions, including vaccinations, medical visits and distribution of essential medicines. Recently, the Mobile Unit, in collaboration with the Fimmg Lazio, was the protagonist of a flu vaccination campaign, reaching dozens of homeless people, demonstrating how crucial it is to bring care directly to those who do not have access to traditional health services.

"The list of donated medicines is not just a list, but a symbol of the small, great needs that we can help satisfy," comments Simone Colombati, president of the Consulcesi Foundation. "Each medicine represents a chance to improve the lives of those who are most fragile. Health is a right, not a privilege." Through initiatives such as the Grf and "the field work of the Mobile Unit, we want to guarantee care and dignity to those who live on the margins of society. Each donated package can truly make a difference. We are waiting for everyone in the participating pharmacies to transform a small gesture into a great opportunity for solidarity," he concludes.
