The shock was also felt in the neighboring municipalities. The Alto Casertano area, in fact, is not new to similar phenomena: in the last weeks yes they were seismic events recorded greater than magnitude 2.0 in the Roccamonfina area, well warned by the population. It should be remembered that Campania is classified as having maximum seismic risk (level 1), with the most frequent tremors along the Apennines, particularly in the provinces of Avellino and Benevento. Caserta and Salerno were less affected.
Earthquake in the municipality of Baia and Latina: fear among the population
A slight seismic event was detected this morning in the Alto Casertano area, with its epicentre in the municipal territory of Baia e Latina. The shock, 2.1 magnitude, was located approximately 4 kilometers northwest of the city center.
The earthquake was recorded by the INGV seismographs at 10:19 today, Friday 16 May 2025. Although the phenomenon was clearly felt by the population, at the moment no damage to people or structures has been reported.
