Adnkronos Rome, May 14 (Adnkronos) – "Europe must wake up. We need a new political season. Trump thinks that Europe is a problem for America. The truth is the opposite: we are their best allies. But we need a political response, not a bureaucratic one. Europe must return to being a laboratory of the future, not a museum of the past". This was said by Matteo Renzi on CNN, interviewed by Christiane Amanpour, addressing the issue of relations between Europe and the United States and the role of Italy.
"Trump thinks that Europe was built against the United States: it is an unacceptable idea. But America is bigger than its President and the transatlantic alliance remains fundamental". Renzi then criticized Prime Minister Meloni's choice not to travel to Kiev with Macron, Scholz and Tusk: "Mario Draghi was on that train in 2022. Now there is Poland. Italy must return to being a protagonist".
