A tragic accident at work
A serious accident occurred in a marble quarry in the municipality of Carrara, specifically in the Fantiscritti area. The victim, a 59-year-old worker, lost his life after falling several meters while driving a dump truck. The accident occurred in quarry number 150, a place known for the extraction of high-quality marble, but which unfortunately has also seen tragic episodes in the past.
The circumstances of the accident
According to initial reconstructions, the worker was carrying out his normal duties when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he lost control of the heavy vehicle. The fall into the Ficola pit was fatal, and the man was crushed under the dumper. Despite the immediate intervention of the rescuers, there was nothing that could be done for him. The Pegaso helicopter rescue was alerted, but once they arrived on site, the doctors confirmed the worker's death.
