A tragic road accident
On Saturday evening, the community of Raiano, in the province of L'Aquila, was shaken by a fatal road accident involving two vehicles. The victims, two men in their 50s, were residents of Castel di Ieri and Acciano respectively. The accident occurred when a Fiat Seicento, in which the victims were traveling, impacted head-on with a Lancia Ypsilon, which was carrying five young people.

According to initial reconstructions, the Fiat Seicento was traveling along the road in the direction of Raiano, while the Lancia Ypsilon was heading towards Sulmona. The dynamics of the accident are still being investigated by the competent authorities, but the violence of the impact left the witnesses speechless. A young girl, who was nearby at the time of the accident, was the first to call for help, reporting the seriousness of the situation.
Rescue intervention
Immediately after the call, three 118 vehicles, the Sulmona firefighters and the Carabinieri intervened at the scene of the accident. Despite the rapid rescue, there was nothing that could be done for the two men on board the Fiat Seicento. The conditions of two other passengers, including a young woman, were serious, and they were rushed to the hospital in Sulmona. The local community is mourning the loss of two lives, while investigations continue to clarify the causes of this tragic event.
