Forza Italia has decided to join the coalition's shared themes of citizenship and imprisoned mothers. It responded negatively to the proposal of the Ius scholae of Azione and withdrew an amendment on the prevention of mandatory prison for mothers with children up to 1 year old. The decision was criticized by several political parties. In the meantime, the final vote on the bill, which includes the debate on light cannabis, has been postponed until next week. During the day, several articles were approved, including the "anti-Ghandi", which allows the arrest of those who block roads or railways, and the strengthening of penalties for crimes committed in stations or on trains. In addition, a crime of 'illegal possession of property intended for someone else's residence' was included, which was welcomed by Matteo Salvini and Mauro Malaguti.

Currently, Forza Italia decides to join the rest of the coalition on the issues of citizenship and mothers in prison. On these two key issues for the center-right, in fact, the blue party avoids directly confronting the League in the context of the security bill. Tajani's party responds with a no to the amendment proposed by Azione, through which Carlo Calenda had challenged the blue party by presenting the Ius scholae to offer citizenship to minors of immigrant parents who have completed a 10-year cycle of studies. This proposal recalled the position taken by FI after the Olympics, which had created tensions in the coalition. Furthermore, Forza Italia withdraws its amendment to the law aimed at preventing mandatory prison for mothers with children up to 1 year old. This, in response to an amendment from the majority that requires an annual report to Parliament on the "application of precautionary measures against pregnant women and mothers of children under three years old". This is a sign, according to some members of FI, that will serve to highlight the problem of children in prison. However, it is difficult to obtain more. This solution, in reality, differs from what was originally requested by Forza Italia. On the issue of Ius scholae and mothers in prison, the PD, with Debora Serracchiani, attacks Tajani for his empty words. Avs with Filiberto Zaratti defines the move as "the last volte-face", while M5s with Alfonso Colucci defines it as "infamous because it sends small children to prison".

Riccardo Magi of +Europa mocks the “guarantor and liberal situation of Forza Italia that they will do tomorrow”. He also underlines how the Guarantor of prisoners is already carrying out the report. The “attempt of force” of FI on mothers in prison “ended with another further U-turn. They keep them in prison with their small children, but they give us plans through a report. They are ridiculous”, claims Davide Faraone, the head of the IV group. Carlo Calenda instead defined it as “madness” after the refusal of FI and the denial by the Chamber of the amendment of the Ius scholae.

A refusal motivated in the Chamber by the head of the FI group in the Constitutional Affairs Committee, Paolo Emilio Russo. “We are working on a global reform,” he had stated, “which deserves to be considered above an amendment inserted at the last minute in a bill that addresses something else.”

At the same time, in an attempt to maintain attention on the right to citizenship, the opposition has requested an emergency vote on the M5S bill on the matter. The majority has expressed a negative opinion, so tomorrow, at the opening of the session, there will be a vote. In the meantime, the final vote on the bill, which includes, among other things, the issue of light cannabis, has been postponed to next week.

Among the articles approved today, which still need to be confirmed during the second reading round in the Senate, there is the provision renamed “anti-Ghandi” by the center-left that allows arrest for up to a month for anyone blocking a road or railway, extending up to two years in cases where there are more than one person gathered. The green light was also given to increasing penalties for crimes committed in stations or on trains.

The unprecedented crime of 'illegal possession of property intended for someone else's residence' is also included. Matteo Salvini expresses his thoughts on the matter, considering this a great triumph for a historic struggle of the League, adding: No mercy for illegal occupants, as a certain sector of the left would like: no tolerance! ". "The days of the Salis approach and 'justifiable' crimes are now over. With the victory of the center-right, legality finally prevails", says the representative of Fratelli d'Italia Mauro Malaguti.
