A worrying fire in the municipality of Umbertide
On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, a fire hit an external area of a factory in the municipality of Umbertide, precisely in the Pian D'Assino area. The flames mainly affected plastic material, generating a column of dense black smoke that was visible even from kilometers away, alarming the residents of the town and surrounding areas.
The situation required immediate intervention by the firefighters, who rushed from Perugia, Città di Castello and Gubbio to put out the blaze.
Interventions by the competent authorities
In response to the emergency, the Municipality of Umbertide activated a coordination plan that saw the presence of various authorities. In addition to the firefighters, technicians from Arpa Umbria intervened to assess the environmental impact, together with the staff of the Usl to carry out health checks and prevention measures. The Municipality stressed the importance of monitoring the situation, with the aim of managing it in the most effective way possible. The competent authorities are actively engaged in containing the fire and ensuring the safety of citizens.
Air quality measurements and reassurances to the population
Following the fire, air quality measurements were started by Arpa and Asl, with particular attention to the direction of the smoke. The mayor of Perugia, Vittoria Ferdinandi, announced that she is in constant contact with the president of the Umbria Region, Stefania Proietti, to coordinate any joint actions and follow the evolution of the situation. The Municipality of Perugia also issued a note to reassure citizens, in particular the community of Pierantonio, the hamlet closest to the area affected by the fire. At the moment, the causes that triggered the fire remain unknown, but the authorities are working to clarify the situation and ensure public safety.
