Milan, June 17 (Adnkronos) – "I am astonished by the paltry amount of the sentence handed down today by the preliminary hearing judge of Milan, namely 10 years of imprisonment for such a brutal and cruel crime, with the disavowal of the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and cruelty (which would have precluded access to the abbreviated trial) and the recognition of the mitigating circumstances prevailing over the contested aggravating circumstances, granting him another reduction of one third of the sentence".
This was stated in a note by Antonio Ingroia, the lawyer and former public prosecutor who represented the widow of Antonio Bellocco in the 'Doppia curva' trial, the member of the 'ndrangheta clan of the same name who was on the board of directors of the Inter Curva Nord and was stabbed to death by former Nerazzurri ultra (now a repentant) Andrea Beretta.
"All this seems really excessive to me, considering that I don't understand how the generics can be recognized to Beretta, given that his collaboration on the murder was negligible, there being already overwhelming evidence against him deriving from the video footage of the cameras. Therefore, in my opinion, he could only have been recognized the diminishing of one third for the ritual" he adds.
"I then ask myself - Ingroia denounces - why this 'double standards': there were shouts and protests throughout the country in shock and dismay because Giovanni Brusca was released from prison after 25 years, even though Brusca was a true collaborator who revealed several dozen murders, and unmasked many unsuspecting people and many unspeakable behind-the-scenes stories. And in the face of this sentencing of Beretta to just ten years for such a brutal crime, no one raises an eyebrow".
